ECA022: ECC, READ/WRITE ERRORS in 6.4 & 9.1GB IDE HDD

They are having difficulty getting this ECA released correctly.
This is another update to the ECA022 I released the other day.
This update corrects the FRU P/Ns listed in the 'Physical Discriptions' section.

Abstract: ECA022: ECC, READ/WRITE ERRORS in 6.4 & 9.1GB IDE HDD

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this ECA is to correct a potential problem of intermittent ECC errors or Read/Write failures typically seen shortly after system installation.
The system may also exhibit intermittent system hangs during IPL.
Affected systems are certain models of the IBM Intellistation with a 6.4GB or 9.1GB Seagate IDE hardfile installed.

PHYSICAL CHECK:

  1.  Machine type and model is listed in Features section above.
  2.  System contains one of the following Seagate hard files:

      6.4GB IDE Capacity Hard File
      Option P/N01K1329
      FRU P/N10L6078

      9.1GB IDE Capacity Hard File
      Option P/N01K1330
      FRU P/N10L6079

The hard file has a date code number of WW9906 or less. Systems with date codes later than WW9906 (xxYYMM) are not affected.

DETAIL:

Customers may report the occurance of intermittent ECC errors or Read/Write failures typically seen shortly after system installation. The system may also exhibit intermittent hangs during initial program load (IPL). Affected systems are certain models of the IBM Intellistation with a 6.4GB or 9.1GB Seagate IDE hardfile installed.

NOTES: For customers with hard files exhibiting the symptoms described above, replace the hard file with the appropriate FRU number:

6.4GB IDE FRU P/N10L6078
9.1GB IDE FRU P/N10L6079

Unaffected (replacement) hard files can be identified by the following information:

  1.  The hard file has a date code of WW9907 or greater.
  2.  The IBM part number and header code match the following:

6.4GB IDE P/N10L6070 Header Code J16R2
9.1GB IDE P/N02K3408 Header Code J16RR

NOTE: It is recommended that after replacing the hard file that the servicer run the latest version of IBM Enhanced Diagnostics (file name T3GT17A.EXE) to verify the oper ation and integrity of the new hard file.
