Fan Checkout

To check the fan, do the following:
  1.  Turn off the computer.
  2.  Remove the following FRUs (see 'FRU Removals and Replacements'

    1.  Diskette drive/CD-ROM drive
    2.  Battery pack
    3.  Hard disk drive
    4.  Top cover
    5.  Keyboard unit

  3.  Attach the AC Adapter to the computer
  4.  Applying a short across the two pads with a screw driver as  shown below, turn on the computer.
     
  5.  Listen for the fan. If the fan does not run, replace it.
