Removing the Pentium II Processor

 Removing the Pentium II Processor

CAUTION: Before installing a new processor, Jumper and Switch Information to reset the jumpers for the processor. If the processor is installed with the incorrect jumper settings, the processor and system board may be damaged.

 

1.

 Perform the preparation procedures.

2.

 Remove the hood.
3. Move the air baffle out of the way.
4. Remove the system board.

5.

Locate the Pentium II processor.

6.

Open the top lever of the clip to release the heat sink msgbub1.GIF (1074 bytes).

7.

Push in the release tabs on the ends of the processor "goal posts" msgbub2.GIF (964 bytes).

8.

Unplug the processor from the system board and slide out from the "goal posts" msgbub3.GIF (1077 bytes).

End of sequence. To replace the Pentium II processor, reverse this procedure.

NOTE::

The Pentium II processor is spared with a heatsink.

IMPORTANT:

Ensure that the processor is properly aligned in the "goal posts" before plugging it into the system board.
