Replacing the Microprocessor/Heatsink Assembly

Replacement
IMPORTANT: It is only necessary
to replace the thermal pad when replacing the system board. If you
are replacing the microprocessor/ heatsink assembly, skip to step
6.
- Turn the heatsink over and place it
on a flat surface. Locate the old thermal pad
on the bottom of the heatsink.
- Scrape off the old thermal pad. The old thermal pad
is a sticky or gummy substance on the bottom of the heatsink. Throughly scrape off
any residue left on the heatsink after removing the old thermal pad.

Peel
back the plastic tab on the thermal pad carefully, so the
new thermal pad will stick properly to the heatsink surface.
If the new thermal pad is not applied properly, the microprocessor/
heatsink assembly will not work properly, and you risk damaging
the system board. |
