Abstract: NETFINITY 5000 AND 5500: PROCESSOR'S PARTS MAY BE MISLABELED


TEXT:

Netfinity 5000 and 5500: Processor's parts may be mislabeled.


SYMPTOMS:

400 MHz Processor Upgrades, Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 20L1430, and Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 10L5882, may contain parts with the FRU labeled P/N 01K4334.


PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:



a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model.
a Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any Model.


Netfinity 5500 - Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 10L5882
Netfinity 5000 - Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 20L1430


FIX:

No fix is necessary. The servicer can feel assured that the FRU P/N's 20L1430 (B0), 10L5882 (B0), and 01K4334 (B0 or A1) are interchangeable and support both the Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, and the Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660.


DETAILS:

Some Netfinity 5000 server 400 MHz Processor Upgrades, Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 20L1430, and Netfinity 5500 server 400 MHz Processor Upgrades, Option P/N 10L5884, FRU P/N 10L5882, may contain parts with the FRU labeled P/N 01K4334.

These processors are valid for the Netfinity 5000 servers and Netfinity 5500 servers.
The parts should have a label with a barcode containing one of the following assembly numbers:



where the assembly part number is YYYYYYY on the label in the format of xxxYYYYYYYxxxxxxxxxxxx.

The Netfinity 5000 and Netfinity 5500 system BIOS will report the processors as stepping level A1 or B0.
