Abstract: NETFINITY 7000-M10: I/O PLANAR SHORTING EXPOSURE

SYMPTOM:

Burn mark at stiffener post which passes thru planar and 12V power plane.
This post is located next to component C7 capacitor.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

FIX:

A new stiffener bar was designed and implemented on the I/O planar in January 1999.
A new FRU P/N 19L0140 was released and all old FRUs (P/N 93H9908) have been reworked.

DETAILS:

Shorting occurs due to a hook at end of stiffener post. This hook has been removed from part.
Hook was cutting into 12V plane.
