FIX:

  1.  Remove the failing processor that is indicating the POST error.
  2.  Repack the processor in original box and return to your dealer or telephone  the IBM Parts Return Center in the U.S. at 303-924-4321 for full credit or a replacement.

Note: FRU stock is not to be used for replacement of new out of box Option failure.

DETAILS:

A limited number of processor options and FRU's were shipped without VPD on the processors.
The system will issue the POST error "01299110 CPU x has an invalid serial number" and will boot the operating system and run without any problems.

Note: A DSA has been released to correct FRU stock.
All affected FRU's have been recalled and replaced with FRU's that have VPD burned in the processor.
