Abstract: NETWARE/NT INSTALLATION FAILS with ADAPTEC AAA131 ADAPTER

SYMPTOM:

Installation of Novell NetWare 4.11 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 fails on PC Server 325/330 when CD-ROM is attached to an Adaptec AAA131 RAID Adapter.

PC Server 325/330 experiences a "system halt" failure when Novell NetWare 4.11 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 are loaded with the SCSI CD-ROM unit disconnected from the on-board ServeRAID/Adaptec SCSI controller and connected to an attached Adaptec AAA-131 Raid SCSI controller.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

FIX:

Do not connect the SCSI CD-ROM to the Adaptec AAA-131 RAID SCSI controller.
Connect the SCSI CD-ROM to the on-board ServeRAID or on-board Adaptec controller as it shipped from the factory.
