IDE - CD/DVD-ROM and ZIP-100 Drive Jumper setting

EMERGENCY <Option 1> CD-ROM and DVD ROM manual disk eject hint's.

If for any reasons the tray does not eject automatically then:
  1.  Make sure to turn off the PC-power
  2.  Locate the Emergency Eject hole on the DVD/CD-ROM drive:

  3.  Insert and press an eject-bar inside the emergency hole to manually eject the tray.


A straightened (formed)   paper clip with a diameter of 1.2mm (typical) can be used as an eject-bar.

Locate the bottom edge of the disk tray. Gently pry the disk tray with a screwdriver.
When the disk tray opens, simply remove the disk from the CD-ROM drive.

CD-ROM, PD/CD-ROM Drive Jumper Settings

CD-ROM and PD/CD-ROM drives use jumpers or tabs to set the drives as primary (master) or secondary (slave). Refer to the drive connector labels or the figures below for the drive settings.

NOTE: For 214x models that have a factory-installed ZIP drive, the ZIP drive is jumpered as slave and the CD/DVD-ROM drive is jumpered as master.


Aptiva 2158, 2163 DVD-ROM Drive Jumper Settings


 
  1.  Power connector
  2.  IDE Interface connector (2158/63 - cable to systemboard connector CN10)
  3.  Configuration jumper (CS = Cable select, SL = Slave, MA = Master (default))
  4.  Analog Audio connector (cable to systemboard conn. 2158-CN15 / 2163-CN8)


Aptiva 2134, 2176 - Factory installed ZIP 100 ATAPI-Drive Jumper Settings


 

NOTE: The factory-installed ZIP 100 ATAPI drive is connected to the system board secondary drive connector. The ZIP drive is a direct access storage device that features removable media having a formatted capacity of 100 MB.
The ZIP Drive jumper is set as the master drive.
