866 System Board

The Compaq Presario 800 Series models feature performance upgrade support for Pentium microprocessor technology and also includes a socket for adding an optional 128 KB secondary cache memory module.

The system memory supports the processor and DMA and/or bus master devices. To meet the requirements of the processor, the system memory interfaces directly with the system processor on the processor/memory bus. The system memory uses 70-ns Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM).

The video subsystem consists of an integrated VGA controller with accelerated video graphics that provides enhanced VGA performance well-suited for graphics-based windowing applications. The Graphics Accelerator is a hardware/software enhancement that allows manipulation of graphics memory data with efficient block moves that do not require system processor intervention.
